SUFFOLK WRESTLING OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION, INC. GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING February 4, 2010
Executive Board Meeting Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM by President L. Barone Board Members Present: C. Smith, R. Boscarino, G.Wissman, G. Mazzola, L. Barone
¨ Discussed League tournaments scheduled for this weekend and the possibility of cancelation or rescheduling in the event of snow. ¨ Discussed format for County Tournaments on February 12-13. ¨ Noted that new policy manual changes are on the website for review. ¨ Discussed new insurance proposal from NYS to share a $15,000 deductible policy with other Chapters in the state. The coverage is intended to protect each Chapter in the event of a lawsuit. The funding for this coverage would come from a proposed additional surcharge of $5.00 for each member of SWOA over the next several years. The information will be presented at the general membership meeting for feedback and opinion. The consensus will determine how SWOA representatives vote at the Spring meeting on February 26. ¨ Exec. General Membership Meeting Meeting called to order at 8:05 PM by President L. Barone
President’s Announcements: ¨ JH Schedules – Starts 2/22/10: The JH schedule is complete and posted on the website. Please return your schedules to Kathy by 2/10 if you haven’t done so. First year officials have been given priority, followed by 2nd year officials. Any remaining openings have been offered to other members. ¨ League Tournaments this Saturday, 2/6/10 o Requested availability in the event of postponement due to snow. New date would be Sunday, 2/7. All assigned indicated that they would still be available. ¨ County Tournament: 2/12 & 2/13/10 o Discussed 2-day scheduling format for D1 and D2 o Volunteers names have been received and submitted. ¨ State Tournament: o Volunteers names have been received and submitted o State Officials: Boscarino, Mazzola, Starke. Evaluator – Isgro. ¨ Policy Manual Change Update – New policy changes have been posted on web site for review and comment. ¨ New Insurance Liability Proposal discussed(See Above). General consensus is to reject at Spring meeting. ¨ Next Meeting: 3/9/10 – Final meeting for season. ¨ End of Season Party: March 8, 2010 from 7 – 10PM at Bruno’s, Hawkins Ave., Ronkonkoma. Chad Smith collecting $10.00 deposits for all who plan on attending. Deposit will be returned at Bruno’s. Rules Interpretations: (presented by John Truscello) ¨ Stressed maintaining 45 minute rest between bouts. ¨ Assistant Referee positioning and duties discussed. Review rule book for clarification and detail. ¨ Ultimate Tie breaker discussed. Ride out time can occur in rear standing position and is not stalling. Offensive wrestler can remain behind in R.O. position. Know when to call stalemates. The offensive wrestler job is to control defensive wrestler in the Ult. Tie Breaker. ¨ Mouthpiece and hair rules must be enforced at all levels. Uniforms in JH are not mandatory as shorts/t-shirts/sneakers are permitted. The uniform worn must allow for proper application of holds. ¨ Meeting Adjourned at 9:15 PM
